THE NATIONAL SPORTS COUNCIL (NSC) and Minister Stephen Lashley must be complimented for the successful staging of the fifth Inter-Parish Road Tennis Championship, which climaxed on Friday and Saturday night at the Springer Memorial School.
The crowds were not as large as expected with the significant growth of the fan base in the island but unfavourable weather had frustrated some of the earlier fixtures thus hampering the normal development of the fever associated with road tennis.
The performance of St George’s Kim Holder in winning her fourth women’s crown was remarkable.
While St Michael’s Justin Smith in taking the Under 15s, Jeffrey “Bing Crosby” Layne and Andrew “Governor” Holder who clinched their third Masters crown along with Mark “Venom” Griffith and Antonio “Lil Man” Daniel taking a fifth successive victory for that parish maintained St Michael’s dominance.
