TRANSPORT BOARD COMMUTERS can expect delays over the next few weeks as the authority tries to get their fleet roadworthy.
In a paid advertisement yesterday, the board advised the public of this situation and apologised in advance for any inconvenience they will experience.
The board explained that in keeping with the Road Traffic Regulations its fleet must be inspected annually at the Licensing Authority.
However as their buses are all ageing with the youngest being nine-years-old this year, while the oldest on the road are now 18-years-old, ongoing maintenance is becoming increasingly challenging.
“At this time we are processing a number of units, consequently we are experiencing challenges with our bus availability. Additionally, the buses we have are covering our regular route network, school transportation and other school events,” related the statement.
“This combination of events has resulted in some delays in our regularly scheduled services. We are again asking the travelling public to be patient as we seek to improve our service delivery,” the board said. (SP)
