This is the message from the Barbados Surfing Association to those engaged in all forms of surfing on the island.
BSA Treasurer Louis Venezia laid out the welcome mat as he addressed the association’s annual prize ceremony at Blakey’s, in Hastings, Christ Church on Saturday evening.
As officials crowned 2014’s champions in Stand Up Paddle-boarding, one of the fastest growing water sports, and Long boarding Venezia said the association was looking to incorporate those and other aspects of surfing into its calendar of events.
“But we need your support,” Venezia stressed.
“Anybody who is interested in bettering surfing on a whole, not just surfing but SUP (stand up paddle board), long board, right down the line, we are willing to help you guys, once you are willing to help yourself,” he said, adding: “If we know you are supporting us, we will be happy to support you”.
