Two accused of pension cheque fraud

POLICE HAVE ARRESTED and charged a postman and a woman for multiple counts of fraud and other offences.

Thirty-year-old Dwayne Omar Brathwaite, a postman at the St George Post Office, is accused of stealing a number of pension cheques sometime between December 2014 and January 2015.

The Eckstein Village, Black Rock, St Michael resident has been charged with 17 counts of putting off on a forged instrument, ten counts of attempting to obtain on a forged instrument and five counts of obtaining money on a forged instrument.

Meanwhile, 36-year-old Roslyn Alleyne of Ruby, St Philip is accused of receiving the stolen cheques and presenting them to a business establishment where they were cashed.

She has been charged with 26 counts of uttering a forged instrument, ten counts of attempting to obtain on a forged instrument, 16 counts of obtaining money on a forged instrument and one count of going equipped.

Alleyne and Brathwaite are expected to appear at the District “A” Magistrates’ Court tomorrow. (PR/NB)
