REELING AT 77 FOR SEVEN Guyana Jaguars stunned Barbados Pride to qualify for the semi-finals of the NAGICO Super50 cricket match at Queen’s Park Oval tonight.

And the victory was led by none other than Barbadian Raymon Reifer, who came in after Guyana lost one wicket without a single run on the board. Reifer was there when the score was 2-2 and kept his calm as wickets fell all around him.

Reifer scored 84 not out and Guyana reached 169 for eight in response to the Pride’s 168 for eight to win by two wickets.

Spinner Devendra Bishoo added an invaluable 26 not out with the bat. Christopher Barnwell (16) and Shiv Chanderpaul (15) fell cheaply, while Veerasammy Permaul chipped in with 11.

Fidel Edwards, Javon Searles, Kevin Stoute and Jomel Warrican took one wicket each.

Earlier, Kraigg Brathwaite scored 73 not out when the match finally got underway after a rain delay of more than three hours. Shai Hope scored 26 and Ryan Hinds played a critical role with 37 off 36 balls. He came in when the score was 89 for three after Kirk Edwards (7) and Shamarh Brooks (6) fell in quick succession to Bishoo and Barnwell, respectively.

Barbados now face a must-win against the Windward Islands on Monday morning at Shaw Park if they are to advance to the semi-finals. (SAT)
