FIVE ST JAMES YOUTHS who supposedly styled themselves ‘the Cartoon Bandits’ while allegedly robbing minibuses along the West Coast, appeared in the Holetown Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

Despite protestations from attorneys Allan Carter and Makala Broome that any alleged gang tie should be ignored as it was not evidence, Damien Jamar Jamal Bruce, 23, of Haynesville; Rachad Shaquille Rock, 18, of Central Drive, Haynesville; Romario Adrian Payne, 18, of Haynesville; Savio Jamal Haynes, 18, of Durants Village, Holders Hill, and Curtis Rio Alleyne, 17, also of Haynesville, were remanded to HMP Dodds until later this month.

They were jointly charged with robbing University of the West Indies student Kasim Queeley of a hat, a pair of shades and a cellphone, all worth $520, last Christmas Eve.
