Lord, give me strength, to face another day.

Carry on life’s road, carry all my load.

Give me strength, oh Jah, to carry on, oh my Lord.

– Luciano’s Lord Give Me Strength

Every day this year, the Creator endowed me with strength and wisdom to live a productive life with my family, friends, work colleagues, neighbours and readers of this column.

It was a pleasure to receive warm embraces, pleasant emails, gripping Whatsapp messages, new Facebook likes and stunning tweets from readers. I have also met some amazing people compliments of this column.

On Boxing Day my family and I journeyed to St Lucy to deliver some Indian nettle to one of those amazing readers.

At 6 o’clock the following morning, I was in Ellerton donating silent doctors to another two avid readers. I have recognised that this column is not only about healing herbs but also about developing lasting genuine relationships.

Indeed, I was bestowed with “nuff” willpower in 2014. This column, through passionate readers, gave me the pleasure of expanding my dreams. I was given the opportunity to deliver lectures to staff of the Central Bank of Barbados, the Fairholme Garden Neighbourhood Watch group, the Caribbean Tourism Organisation, the Caribbean Examinations Council, Gordon Greenidge Primary and Vauxhall Primary.

Moreover, Mr Henderson Nurse, a senior tutor at Erdiston Teachers’ Training College, invited me to display an array of natural Barbadian medicinal remedies at their HIV health expo. I also interacted with Dr Hynes Landveld, a distinguished Caribbean herbalist. Our sessions were very conscious and inspirational.

I, like Luciano, continually ask the Creator for inner strength and I must implore you to love silent doctors.

When I did my end-of-year statistics, the top five silent doctors most talked about after being featured in this column were Indian nettle, the bedsore herb; Surinam cherry, the sexual enhancer; sugar apple, the thyroid herb; Epsom salts, the blood clot preventer; and coral vine, the blood pressure herb.

Mention must also be made of mulberries, mammie apple, breadnut and the destruction of “Lord Cancer” and the corn curl king.

In 2015, plans are in place to delight you with a kaleidoscope of invigorating silent doctors, including cat’s blood and pigweed, the cornucopia of Caribbean remedies for good health, peaceful sleep, satisfying sex and inner growth.

A happy, empowering and glowing 2015 to all.
