Victor tops the lot

Not even fierce competition from the country’s most successful horse racing trainer Richard Deane, who won 43 races, could stop defending champion trainer Victor Cheeseman from securing the top prize again with earnings of $453 933 for the Barbados Turf Club’s 2014 season.

On the first day of the just concluded season, he landed four winners Luckylucky Me, Poetic Licence, Halle Rose and Zaltarr. With a win percentage of 16, Cheeseman’s charges made 27 trips to the winner’s enclosure during the year, allowing him to keep his head out front in the money segment which is the only deciding factor.
