CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER (CEO) of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Dr Dexter James, may still not be on the job, but he hasn’t been fired.
Minister of Health Jeffrey Bostic made this clear yesterday, after a rumour that James had been sent packing quickly made the rounds on social media.
“I can confirm that is not the case,” Bostic told the NATION. “I know about the rumour because I also have been receiving calls about it.”
He said James went on sick leave the second day into Government’s new-style question and answer Estimates of Revenue and Expenditure process in the House of Assembly back in February, and remained on such leave.
James had come in for some intense questioning while providing details about the financial challenges facing the country’s major hospital.
Director of Support Services, Louise Bobb, the hospital’s second in command, remains the interim CEO while James is away. (BA)
