Barbados is projecting a bumper cruise tourism season in 2015 and 2016, but a leading official has warned that the aesthetics of Bridgetown as well as the way its merchants operate need to be improved if the island is to take full advantage.
Chief executive officer of Foster and Ince Cruise World, Martin Ince, said yesterday that even a snapshot of 2017 looked promising, but that urgent action had to be taken to beautify, decorate and generally improve the ambience of The City.
“We need to be having parades in town,” Ince added. “If we want to keep pace with what is happening in this industry, the merchants and the Bridgetown associations need to make some improvements.”
