AT THE AGE of 76, most people try to enjoy retirement, keep away from stress, relax and unwind.
In the case of sports administrators, the majority have long called it a day. Not Kathy Harper-Hall.
For close to 60 years, her life has been one of service to sport.
Harper-Hall has given yeoman service to several sports for the majority of her life and it was only fitting that she was bestowed with a Barbados Service Medal in the recent Independence Day honours.
“When you’re not expecting something and you get it, it is like a surprise. I feel honoured. I’m not overwhelmed by it. I am grateful. I am even more grateful to the person who nominated me,” she told the WEEKEND NATION.
“This means a lot to me, not just that one of my netballers would think that they should nominate me for this award but the overwhelming part is the responses I have been getting from people from all over the world in every sphere of my life, every person whose life I have touched in some way.”
