BRIDGETOWN – CGI MAPLE put aside an unsatisfactory batting display to defeat ESAF Pickwick by 40 runs and win their third Sagicor General Super Cup limited overs cricket title in a low-scoring final at the 3Ws Oval on Sunday.
Sent in to bat, Maple were dismissed for 141 in 49.1 overs. Wicket-keeper Collis Worrell made the top-score of 49 off 96 balls with two fours while experienced all-rounder Khalid Springer contributed a breezy 29 off 32 balls with two sixes.
In reply, Pickwick slumped from 82 for three to be all out for 101 in 38.2 overs. Captain Kyle Hope top-scored with a patient 30 off 80 balls, with a solitary six.
Springer, who was named Man-of-the-Match and former Barbados and West Indies seamer Corey Collymore, took three wickets each for 19 and 18 runs, respectively to lead the Maple bowling.
Maple, who were losing finalists in 2012 and 2013, previously won the Cup title in 1977 and 1980.
