The president of the Barbados Hotel & Tourism Association is optimistic about the prospects for the upcoming tourist seasons.
Sunil Chatrani said projections for the summer tourist season showed stronger numbers as a result of stronger source markets.
Chatrani was speaking in the wake of inaugural Delta Airline flights from Atlanta and New York, which touched down at the Grantley Adams International Airport on Thursday.
“We always do different things, different promotions for the summer period but what we are seeing now is the feeder markets – our major markets – are improving,” he said, adding that as those market economies became stronger, travellers were becoming more confident.
“So we’re seeing a little bit more stronger numbers for the summer now so we have to just manage it and ensure we have the right promotions at the right time,” Chatrani said. (HLE)
