Broomes staying put

THOSE who thought they would be seeing the last of Parkinson Memorial School principal Jeff Broomes at the end of the school term will be disappointed today.

The outspoken principal, who has become mired in controversy since taking over at The Pine, St Michael institution, yesterday signalled he “would not be leaving or retiring”.

And, to thunderous applause, he announced he would be starting the Jeff Broomes Parkinson Student Support Fund – a monetary support system for needy children of the school.

“I want to officially announce the launch of the Jeff Broomes Parkinson Student Support Fund. It will begin in 2015 where I will commit to an annual injection of $5 000 to be of assistance to students of this school.
