Singing the Word

Barry Reid is on a mission.

And is using his voice and his guitar to help him get there.

Reid, 31, uses the stretch along Milk Market Road in The City as his “church” and passers-by, including shoppers and workers on the hustle as his congregation as he ministers the Word of God through song.

Perched on a tall stool, the expanse of a blue wall as a backdrop and support, Reid has been spending hours almost every day for the last two to three months trying to get people closer to God.

“I want people to come closer to God through my singing. I wish more people could hear my singing,” he said, in between songs, during an interview with the SATURDAY SUN on Thursday afternoon
