Principal of Springer Memorial Secondary School, Pauline Benjamin, has pleaded with parents to set aside at least one day a month to pay close attention to their children’s progress.
She delivered the message to parents on Wednesday at the annual speech day and prize-giving ceremony.
Benjamin, while highlighting the overall performance of students in this year’s CXC examinations, said there was much room for improvement but this could only be achieved if all partners came together.
She urged parents to pay greater attention from early rather than wait until it was too late.
“You are vital stakeholders in this education business that involves your daughters. I want to say that I am very concerned and deeply saddened at the dismal numbers that show up for PTA meetings. They are held once a month, this is a school of over 1 000 students with all having parents and guardians,” she said. (SDB Media)
