Three soldiers in the Barbados Defence Force (BDF) will be tried before an internal court, one of them on a charge of communicating with the enemy and another on an indecent assault charge.

At a press conference yesterday, Lieutenant Commander Ryan Alleyne, Force Adjutant, said the court is convened to hear offences under the Defence Act or any civil offence in Barbados or elsewhere, committed by a person who is subject to military law in Barbados.

The first hearing runs from May 7 to 10 and is the case of the officer charged with committing a civil offence of “wrongful communication of information contrary to” the Secrets Act.

In the second case, sitting from May 27 to 30, the soldier is facing three charges. These are that he communicated with the enemy; that he engaged in conduct to the prejudice of good order and military discipline, and neglect to the prejudice of good order and military discipline. (DR)
