Rising water threat to home

FED UP AND FRUSTRATED.

That’s how two families in Golf Club Road, Christ Church, felt yesterday as rising flood waters threatened to breach the security of their homes after persistent showers dumped more rain on the island for the second straight day.

The Elcocks household, which includes national and Caribbean champion cyclist Russell Elcock, of Rose Garden, Golf Club Road, kept a wary eye on the rising waters at their doorway.

“This is actually not the worst it’s been,” said Russell.

“There have been cases where [the] well has been covered. This water has been up to the bottom of the gas meter,” he said, as he pointed to a water mark, on a can, that was at least an inch higher that the current level of the water.
