BUSINESSMAN PAUL BYNOE of B’s Bottle and Metal Recycling plant has finally received approval from the Town Planning Department to relocate his business.

And he hopes to start building the $20M operation early next year.

Bynoe will be moving his plant from Reece Road, Cane Garden, St Thomas to the new site opposite the Mangrove Pond Landfill. It is not near to any residential area.

He took the media on a tour of the site this morning.

Giving thanks to God, Bynoe said he would soon start to clear the land.

He brought this land after a land swap deal with Government went wrong. Residents in Bagatelle, where he was supposed to take his operation, protested the location of B’s in their neighbourhood.

In March 2013, fire broke out at B’s Recycling in Reece Land, sending a thick, black cloud of smoke hundreds of feet in the air. It caused a huge environmental outcry and residents there filed a lawsuit against them.

That suit is still before the courts. (MB)
