Farmer Stephen Williams has been having a hard time with stray dogs.

Yesterday, he had to take some drastic action after three dogs went after some of his calves.

He shot two of the predators; one got away.

Fortunately, quick action by Williams and his staff may have saved some of his livestock from the terror of the marauding dogs, which struck shortly after lunchtime.

A few of the calves were bitten, with one having to receive attention from the veterinarian. The calves saved yesterday included a ten-week-old heifer which was given a tetanus shot and antibiotics.

“I have a constant problem with dogs. People bring their dogs up here and let them go – they take off the tags. These dogs look for something to eat,” Williams said. (ES)
