IMF not gospel

GOVERNMENT WILL NOT be bound by the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) recommendations on tax reform, says Minister of Finance Chris Sinckler.

The Freundel Stuart administration will study them and collect the opinions of stakeholders before making a final policy decision.

The IMF report, entitled A Tax Reform Roadmap For Simplicity And Revenue Buoyancy, was prepared at the request of the Government.

Sinckler made his remarks at the annual general assembly of the Barbados Agricultural Society at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre on Saturday.
