Jamaica Tallawahs successfully defended their total of 147 runs, beating the Barbados Tridents by 19 runs today at Sabina Park as the Caribbean Premier League T20 Cricket tournament continued.
It was the third successive victory on home soil for the Tallawahs who scored 147 for eight and limited the Tridents to 128 for six.
Jerome Taylor took two for 11, while Bernard, with two for 20, struck early to remove openers Dwayne Smith (5) and Shane Dowrich (9).
Shoaib Malik was the lone sign of resistance, finishing unbeaten on 81 off 43 balls. He struck five fours and six sixes.
Earlier, it seemed as though the Tridents would have been chasing in excess of 160 runs before some very incisive bowling of their own restricted the Tallawahs, who were 114 for one at one stage.
Owais Shah (42), captain Chris Gayle (39) and Chadwick Walton (25) set the table at the top of the order, but the last seven wickets fell for 37 runs.
Ravi Rampaul took four for 18 for Tridents and Rayad Emrit three for 35, missing his four-for when the last ball fell just out of reach.
Summarised scores: Jamaica Tallawahs 147-8 (O. Shah 42, C. Gayle 39, C. Walton 25; R. Rampaul 4-18, R. Emrit 3-35).  Barbados Tridents 128-6 (Shoaib Malik 81 n.o.; J. Taylor 2-11, D. Bernard Jr 2-20). Tallawahs won by 19 runs. (SAT)
