Cops’ case called again

The case involving a number of police officers who are challenging their omission from last year’s police promotions list is back on the court’s calendar.
It has now been assigned to a fourth judge following last month’s controversy which resulted in an outburst from Queen’s Counsel Alair Shepherd, who is representing one of the litigants.
The case came up before Justice Margaret Reifer on Monday and has been adjourned until next month.
It was first heard by Justice Randall Worrell last August, before being taken over by Justice Elneth Kentish who granted an injunction against the Commissioner of Police, the Police Service Commission (PSC) and the Attorney General to prohibit the publication of promotions in any manner until the full hearing and determination of the application for judicial review.
