$60m offer to Barrack

Government, which owes contractor Al Barrack in excess of $70 million, has made him an offer of $60 million.
The SUNDAY?SUN was reliably informed that Government officials met with Barrack’s new attorney at law Douglas Trotman early last week to present the offer which has been approved by Cabinet.
The money is for the sale of the Warrens Complex, built by Barrack for the National?Housing Corporation (NHC), and currently housing several Government departments. Under the agreement, the new owner will lease the building back to Government.
A source said Minister of Housing and Lands Michael Lashley led a team of officials during a meeting last Wednesday which was held at the Wildey law offices of Clarke, Gittens and Farmer and chaired by attorney at law Stephen Farmer.
