Transport Board withdraws letters

From fired to rehired in the same day.
That’s what happened to some workers at the state-run Transport Board Wednesday after a wildcat strike.
General secretary of the Barbados Workers’ Union (BWU), Sir Roy Trotman told a Press conference yesterday the industrial action began when simmering issues rose to the surface and hundreds of employees joined in solidarity with a colleague they thought was being victimized.
Sir Roy said dismissal letters were issued to some workers for abandoning their jobs during the strike, but they were subsequently withdrawn after he met with Transport Board officials, and told employees to return to work.
The BWU boss also said employees were now ready “to get on with their jobs” even though many issues remained, and would do so while at the same time allowing the union to investigate several issues.
