Several pieces of heavy equipment, including two large cranes, were put to work at Husbands, St James, yesterday to remove and transfer a 120-foot radar tower.
Personnel from Crane and Equipment Limited, headed by Michael Beckles, shifted the tower 70 metres because, according to retired Commander of the Barbados Coast Guard, David Dowridge, who was in charge of the relocation process, it was not in the best spot.
The Government-owned tower was erected in 2007 around the time of Cricket World Cup to assist in security matters and with communications and surveillance equipment.
