Event planning services in Barbados have come in for praise from international wedding guru Brian Green.
Green, who shared his wealth of experience about coordinating weddings and events for a range of clients, including celebrities, at the Nation Publishing Company Limited’s Forever I Do Wedding Seminar and Expo at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre last Saturday, said he was very impressed with the number and quality of event services offered in Barbados.
Speaking to the DAILY NATION at the annual prestigious event, Green said: “There are some amazing things I didn’t know you could get in Barbados that I saw today, which was super-exciting to me.”
The Atlanta-based planner said that such an event – which highlighted financial services, wedding attire, event planning services, caterers, soft furnishings, and event make-up advice for the wedding day – should be grasped by many.
He praised Nation Publishing for coordinating the amazing event which granted many who could not afford an experienced event planner of his calibre the rare opportunity to seek professional knowledge and ideas from the more than 30 booths exhibited and advice from designers, make-up artist, fitness instructors, massage therapist and even weigh-loss specialists during a number of scheduled seminars throughout the day.
“Nation Publishing should be very proud to be able to offer Barbadian couples, brides and parents, an opportunity to interact with experts in their various fields, vendors and sponsors at their various booths,” said Green.
Some of the audience who attended the event were also impressed with the quality of services they saw on show.
One such individual was Eglan Burnett, whose daughter was scheduled to get married before the year ends.
“I like what I am seeing. This is a very good thing to do for people looking to get married. I seeing so many things at these booths that you don’t even know how to choose. But I love what I am seeing, I love it,” said Burnett.
Meanwhile, Nation Publishing’s senior corporate communications officer and lead coordinator of the event, Marilyn Sealy, said she was pleased that many grasped the opportunity and passed through the event. She said that the seminars were well attended.
“The objective of the event is to bring all the products and services under one umbrella. I think we were able to do that because we have from cake icing to every possible thing you can think about,” said Sealy.
Just around 7 p.m., a couple at the event received a surprise that brought smiles to their faces.
Kristian Gittens and Elica Carmichael were announced the winners of the Forever I Do 2013 wedding competition after their love story won the hearts of Barbadians and judges.
Kristian, 23, and Elica, 30, who received overwhelming support in text and Facebook voting, won a wedding package valued at more than $30 000. (AH)
