At least one new car dealership is expecting 2014 to be a tough year given continued economic difficulties and possible layoffs in the public sector.
According to marketing manager of McEnearney Quality Inc (MQI), Margaret Hoyte, the market for new vehicles had improved a little in the first half of this year.
However, she said it later slowed down due to some factors, including the roll back of the excise tax rebate on new cars to 15 per cent.
She was speaking to the SATURDAY SUN yesterday as MQI launched the 2014 Ford EcoSport at the company’s Wildey, St Michael showroom.
“A lot of people are a little bit uncertain as to making commitments for monthly payments. Some people are looking to hold on to their cars or buy a newer second-hand car,” she said.
