Morris, CBC at odds

Reverend Charles Morris has cried foul over the Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation’s (CBC) suspension of the discussion television programme Religiously Reasoning.
Morris, an Anglican priest and one of the programme’s panellists told the DAILY NATION yesterday he had been informed by CBC’s management that the Sunday evening production would be halted with immediate effect.
He suggested that the decision might have been the result of complaints by some religious leaders from other denominations who had expressed concern about some aspects of the programme.
Morris also spoke of being informed that a letter bearing the signatures of over 456 people had been sent to the state-run corporation objecting to the programme.
“There’s too much interference and micro-management. They (CBC’s board of management) are for policy and not programming,” he charged.
However, chairman Michael Worrell said the programme had not been cancelled but suspended pending a review and recommendations for its improvement.
He also confirmed that CBC had received several complaints about the programme. (TS)
