PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad  – As the government ministers who have been transferred in Friday’s cabinet reshuffle take up their new posts today, one of the partners in the four-party governing alliance sees one appointment resolving a vexed issue with its senior partner.
Marlene Coudray – a former Congress of the People (COP) politician and the mayor of San Fernando, the island’s second major city – is to become the Minister of Gender, Youth and Child Development.
Coudray is among four new ministers to take the oath office at noon before President George Maxwell-Richards at the ornate Knowsley Building – the former home of the foreign ministry that now houses the National Museum, located at Queen’s Park Savannah here in the capital.
The COP said Coudray’s cabinet appointment will return the mayoralty to the party. (CMC)
