ST GEORGE’S – Grenada is seeking the extradition of two St Vincent and the Grenadines nationals accused of staging a robbery at the Grenada Union of Teachers Credit Union in Carriacou earlier this month.
“I can confirm that the two are on remand in St Vincent and an extradition hearing is scheduled to be heard in the magistrate court there, Grenada is seeking the return of the two,” said Christopher Nelson, the Director of Public Prosecution (DDP), adding, “We cannot say when they will return but our argument is for the suspect to face trial in Grenada.”
The men were arrested in St Vincent and the Grenadines last week Friday and investigators from Grenada travelled to Kingstown to assist with the investigations into the crime.
The police here had issued a wanted bulletin for the men soon after the October 11 robbery. They have since charged one person, believed to be the driver of the getaway vehicle with conspiracy.
Meanwhile, police have confirmed that two Vincentian nationals have been deported where they are wanted for charges ranging from murder to money laundering.
Police said Kamara Lampkin, 39, who was nabbed during a drug operation on October 21, is wanted on a murder charge and that the drug charges against him have been discontinued, while Xavique Williams, who was arrested during a joint operation on September 26, this year, pleaded guilty to two counts of money laundering.
