An exuberant crowd mobbed their “queen” Mara Thompson outside the Parliament Buildings yesterday as Barbados’ newest Member of Parliament arrived for her first House session.
Loud cheers and cries of “queen” erupted from the large crowd made up mainly of women, and constituents of St John, as the vehicle bearing Thompson and her daughters Misha, Oya and Osa-Marie arrived. After being greeted by parliamentary colleagues, Thompson strolled back to acknowledge the swarm of supporters awaiting her.
