Hortence Carrington arrived at Charles F. Broome Memorial Primary School yesterday to a warm reception by her students.
The principal is retiring after spending a little more than seven of her 36 years in education at the Government Hill, St Michael school.
Her special day began with the official retirement function at the nearby Government Hill Seventh Day Adventist Church and ended at the school among students.
The function included songs and instrumentals from the students as well as praise from teachers, the Parent-Teacher Association and Minister of Education Ronald Jones.
Jones joined Carrington at the school for a special party and toasted the long-serving educator.
