?Prominent attorney at law Alair Shepherd is willing to accept the consequences of his actions, even if that means losing the ability to practise as a lawyer.
In an exclusive interview with the SUNDAY SUN, Shepherd said he wasn’t afraid of having his licence taken away for his recent outburst of bad behaviour at the Supreme Court, where he bent over and backed a High Court judge in the sight of stunned members of the legal fraternity.
Last week, Chief Justice Sir Marston Gibson promised the matter would be dealt with after all dialogue had been completed with officers of the court who witnessed the incident.
Shepherd has apologized for his actions on April 8, which he blamed on his frustration with gridlock in the courts.
“Disbar me if you want, but get on with the job of having cases finished and let lawyers be able to earn a living like anyone else,” the 62-year-old Queen’s Counsel said yesterday.
?“I’m willing to deal with whatever punishment they hand out, even if it means I wouldn’t be a lawyer anymore. At this stage I really don’t care anymore about what they do to me,” he added.
