From a former Prime Minister, to a current one, Owen Arthur sent a clear message to Freundel Stuart yesterday.“Bring it on.”A pumped-up Arthur rose from a seat in the back of a town hall meeting where he wasn’t event scheduled to speak and lay it on the line in a fiery 45-minute impromptu speech, calling on Prime Minister Freundel Stuart to stop wasting time and call the next general election, constitutionally due by April next year.“Call the election and let’s get this thing out of the way,” Arthur said to more than 100 Barbados Labour Party faithful who were on hand for the town meeting at the Grantley Adams School in St Joseph. The meeting had been convened by Member of Parliament for St Joseph, Deputy Opposition Leader, Dale Marshall so constituents could discuss eligibility for access to the country’s Catastrophe Fund.According to Arthur, Stuart should waste little more time, since the electorate has already had enough of the current Democratic Labour Party administration. “When people are in their hour of greatest need, they should be able to look to their Government for help. They can’t do that with this Government, so Barbadians want to get this over with. Barbados must not be governed this way.”“They have already made up their minds about who they want to lead them,” the former Prime Minister added. “Week by week, it is like Barbados is caught up in a horror show, and it is being shown in slow motion.
