LYNETTE STOUTE was a very determined person.
That determination was exhibited when she needed to get something done. When there was a challenge in front of her, she stopped for no one and for nothing.
That unwavering spirit led the 23-year-old to rush into her burning house at Diamond Valley, St Philip, on August 9, apparently thinking her three children – Shamyah, 5, Jayden, 3, and Taleisha, 1 – were trapped inside. She was critically burnt over 83 per cent of her body and died at a hospital in Panama on August 28.
So set was she in her ways that her sister Lisa described her as “stubborn at times” as she delivered the eulogy to a packed St Philip’s Parish Church, where family and friends gathered to say goodbye to their loved one yesterday.
All eyes, which included those of politicians, members of the Barbados Fire Service and the Barbados Defence Force, were focused on an emotional Lisa, who said Lynette’s kids were important to her.
