Island looks to Europe for lift

With mixed fortunes in its traditional western tourism markets, Barbados is looking to continental Europe for more business.
It is becoming the fastest growing source market for the island’s tourism, with Germany showing the potential to be one of the most productive markets.
Minister of Tourism Richard Sealy said yesterday it was the reason Barbados had been focusing so heavily on promoting itself as a destination option in Germany “with good results”.
Speaking during a ceremony aboard the cruise ship AIDAbella on its first visit to Barbados, he said there had been increased airlift out of Germany, with Condor Airlines bringing three flights weekly instead of the one that operated initially.
