Barbados stands to benefit in more ways than one if the International (North) Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards are held here in 2015.
The IIFA is a yearly weekend event, which is usually held either in April, May or June each year to honour artistic and technical excellence of professionals in Bollywood, the Hindi film industry.
The event which started in 2000 was held in Macau this year and will be held in Tampa, Florida in 2014.
With Barbados being one of many countries bidding to host the highly anticipated event in 2015, Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth Stephen Lashley said he was working closely with the Barbados Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) to ensure that became a reality. He said the Ministry of Tourism was also on board. (MM)
