Come Sunday at the City’s Bridgetown Gallery, Hincks Street… Florianna, a collection of recent paintings by Lorna Rose. Private viewing from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Over in Speightstown, same evening, this Sunday from 5 p.m., artist David Alleyne reveals A New Dawn at the Gallery of Caribbean Art… A collection of recent work along with some new paintings from Susan Alleyne-Forde.
David, from an early age, had a passion to express himself creatively. He states: “I knew I wanted to be a professional artist and so I worked towards that end.
“The ability to do what you enjoy most is probably one of the greatest freedoms.
“This exhibition is a great opportunity to show my work publicly – something I have not done recently. It is also a new dawn for me as I launch my website – a whole new way of meeting wonderful people who appreciate the wonderful gift of art.”
Susan Alleyne-Forde’s paintings are a direct reflection of Barbados and the neighbouring islands.
She absorbs the vibrancy of colour, then reflects it in the complexities of our people at work and at play.
A New Dawn continues at the Gallery Of Caribbean Art until December 8.
A very Arty Christmas Market on Saturday November 13, 1 p.m. – until… at The Lion Castle Polo Club. Art, photography, jewellery, carvings, craft, home gifts and much more. A worthy fundraiser for the Ark Animal Welfare Society. See you there.
Drawing attention at the NCF’s Queen’s Park Gallery, a solo retrospective from the talented Lilian Sten Nicholson, Wings Of The Morning. It’s open Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. A very well put together exhibition catalogue accompanies the show, at a very nominal sum. Buy one for treasuring afterwards?
