A buffet of 14 teams and seven Division 1 matches will be on offer this afternoon when the 2010 volleyball league serves off at the Garfield Sobers Sports Complex.
After the frenetic pace of the Cooperators General Insurance Knockouts which concluded with repeat titles for Chargers women and a drought-ending crown for Progressive, teams will have a more sedate opportunity to go after sets and matches to take the league title.
Newly promoted British American Insurance Jackson and O-Aces will want to build on their play from the knockouts to topple some of the struggling big guns to crack the top four. O-Aces will be marked after their stunner over RBTT Deacons which allowed Chargers and Progressive to feature in the finals.
This evening’s action begins at 3:30 with the women’s triple header seeing 8000 Inc. Carlton taking on Jackson, before Powerade The Club play losing knock-out finalists Rockets at five. The night capper pits Carefree Toners against Chargers at 6:30 p.m. Jackson, Rockets and Chargers are expected to emerge winners this evening.
The men’s games appear to be well-balanced contests for openers with all of the teams taking to the court in a bid to take early leads.
Friendly Hall meet the BNB Juniors at 3:30 p.m., Sunpower Foundation United take on knockout kings Progressive at 5 p.m. O-Aces battle Chargers at 6:30 p.m., and the night capper will see defending champions RBTT Deacons clashing with Cawmere at 8 p.m. (KB)
