THE BARBADOS COAST Guard is setting the example the rest of Barbados should follow, says Chief JusticeĀ Sir Marston Gibson.
Speaking yesterday evening at the first Barbados Defence Force (BDF) recruit intakeĀ of the year at the Paragon Base, Christ Church,Ā Sir Marston cited the Coast Guardās practiceĀ of growing foodĀ as being supportiveĀ of national security.
āIf we can grow ourĀ own food then we willĀ not be at the mercyĀ of those who grow foodĀ for us outside Barbados,ā?he said. āFor that reasonĀ I want to congratulate the military of Barbados and especially the Barbados Coast Guard for taking the lead in producingĀ the food it uses.ā Ā
Sir Marston said food security was important for other reasons as well, such as with foreign exchange.Ā (CA)
