THE BARBADOS COAST Guard is setting the example the rest of Barbados should follow, says Chief Justice Sir Marston Gibson.
Speaking yesterday evening at the first Barbados Defence Force (BDF) recruit intake of the year at the Paragon Base, Christ Church, Sir Marston cited the Coast Guard’s practice of growing food as being supportive of national security.
“If we can grow our own food then we will not be at the mercy of those who grow food for us outside Barbados,”?he said. “For that reason I want to congratulate the military of Barbados and especially the Barbados Coast Guard for taking the lead in producing the food it uses.”
Sir Marston said food security was important for other reasons as well, such as with foreign exchange. (CA)
