Trinity Animal Clinic was in a sea of water today, after heavy rains left the Woodbourne business flooded in.
Dr. Laura Hutchinson, the owner of the clinic said the water started to fill up after lunch on Saturday while the island was being effected by Tropical storm Tomas, but they never expected the “ocean of water” that saluted them this morning.
Hutchinson, who had about nine dogs and two cats at the clinic, got a dinghy and another boat to rescue the animals, when she arrived at the site.
Although no animals were lost in the incident, Hutchinson said the water was about two feet high, and some of the animals had recently had surgery.
“At first we tried to walk across to the clinic, but then the water started reaching me up to my armpits, so we decided to turn around,” she stated.
The veterinarian who has been operating at the site for two years, said the area had experienced some flooding before, but never anything like that. (CT)
