Carnival in The Gap

Hundreds of visiting travel agents got a taste of Crop Over today when the Barbados Tourism Authority (BTA) hosted a colourful carnival-style “jump-up” in St. Lawrence Gap.
The event was part of a Mega Fam, a package of activities to familiarise travel agents with the island’s tourism fare.
More than 300 agents had the chance to dance in The Gap behind a music truck blaring last year’s hottest tunes.
The agents from USA, Canada, the United Kingdom, the Caribbean and Europe made merry from the western end of St. Lawrence Gap to Turtle Beach Hotel.
Led by a Mother Sally, stiltwalkers, and brightly costumed dancers, the  agents jumped, danced and pranced while visitors in the area observed from  vantage points along the route.
Marketing Executive of the BTA Betty Lewis-Brown said they felt the best way to help agents promoting Barbados was to let them get a true feel and experience of the national festival.
