Elderly man dies after collision

AN?ELDERLY?CYCLIST died in hospital after a collision with a Transport Board bus along Heywoods Road, St Peter on Tuesday night.
Police said that 79-year-old Cadmore Burnham of Six Men’s Village in the same parish was on his way to Speightstown when the accident occurred.
He died later at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.  The bus was driven by Carl Ifill.
When the DAILY NATION visited Burnham’s family at their Six Men’s home, son Dave Hinds was still visibly shaken by the death of his father.
With tears rolling down his cheeks, Hinds said: “My father was a good hardworking and loving man who was a carpenter by trade but could do other things like plumbing, masonry and at one time also repaired a car for a man in Maynards, so he was very a very handy person, who loved riding … I will miss him.”
Hinds said his father also loved to play draughts and dominoes and played with some guys in Speightstown.
Neighbour and long-time friend Wayne Downes recalled: “The last time I saw him alive was on Tuesday night after seven, when he said to me that he going to Speightstown to get some bread and he also said, ‘I gine get a game before I come back’. He never made it to Speightstown and I am really hurt by his death.” (RL)
