Harassment of people in St Lawrence Gap will be stopped and Top Rock coconut vendors made to clean up their act.
That’s the word from Minister of Health John Boyce, who said visitors and residents alike were being molested at the popular entertainment spot. He added that there could be environmental health problems if coconut vendors were left unchecked.
Speaking at his Democratic Labour Party Christ Church South constituency branch’s meeting at the St Lawrence Primary School in Christ Church last Sunday, Boyce revealed he had discussed impediments to business with a St Lawrence Gap group last week.
“We all know that harassment has taken off to a new level that is beginning to impact the very livelihood of St Lawrence Gap,” he said.
“The hoteliers and providers of entertainment are under absolute pressure to retain the crowds . . . .
Noise is [also] a tremendous problem to the residents.
“We’ve got people who walk up and down our streets now, and harass and beg visitors and residents alike. They harass me too, and I’m sure they harass you, all of us, on the church compound. That is why we got to get firm.
