Call to help those in need

The Salvation Army is hoping to raise $700 000 to assist the less fortunate through this year’s Christmas Kettle Appeal.
And last night during the launching ceremony in Jubilee Gardens, The City, Barbadians were encouraged to give generously despite the trying economic climate.
The charitable organization runs a range of programmes, including a feeding programme that provides 160 meals per day to shut-ins in St Michael, St Thomas and St George.
Minister of Social Care Steve Blackett said the annual appeal was “just one of the ways in which the army continues to complement the efforts of the Government in its fight against poverty and hunger”. (NB)
