SHOWERS did not deter dozens of people from participating in this year’s Emancipation Walk yesterday.
The annual event began in Independence Square, The City, and ended at the Emancipation Village on the Spring Garden Highway, after passing through areas such as New Orleans, The City.
The lively march was accompanied by stilt walkers and tuk bands and featured groups such as the Haynesville Youth Group, the Little People Fun and Frolic, the Pinelands Creative Workshop, Danse Nationale Afrique and Ife’s Moko Jumbies.
Also making the trek was Member of Parliament for The City Patrick Todd, who said the walk was an important gesture by Barbadians. (CA)
