A 16-year-old St John youth was detained at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) in a serious but stable condition yesterday after being reportedly shot by police during an altercation.
According to eyewitness reports, Jeremy Moore of Venture No. 3, Meadow Road, suffered gunshot injuries to his side and buttocks after he allegedly attacked a police officer during the execution of a warrant at a house in the St John district.
There were reports that Moore ran away from the house, but while being pursued he injured a policeman. Moore was reportedly shot by the injured police officer.
The incident angered a number of residents, who complained of police brutality.
The police’s public relations officer Inspector David Welch said the incident was being investigated. He declined further comment. (TS/MM)
