RODNEY CLARKE actually found success taking his talents south.
The top local shooter was the overall match winner as part of a successful 11-man Bajan contingent at last weekend’s South Trinidad Rifle Association (STRA) national practice match in San Fernando.
Clarke was easily the tournament’s best shooter, having taken first place in the Standard Division Masters class against a top field.
His victory was just one of four first-placed finishes from the Barbados Rifle Association (BRA), which also got victories from Chris Walker (Production Division Masters class), Charles Davis (Standard Division B class) and Colin Riley (Super Seniors’ class).
Two-three finish
The Bajans further received a two-three finish in the Standard C Class, as Ryan Best and Rickey McConney were second and third in that category respectively.
Adrian Marshall placed second in the Standard A class to round out the BRA’s medal tally.
This was after one member of the contingent was forced out of the competition due to problems encountered with the ammunition issued.
Constituted of 11 stages, the match attracted more than 80 competitors; mainly Trinidadian shooters from the clubs, military, police, and prison services.
The shooters were divided into squads of 15 competitors, and the first day with six of the 11 stages completed.
The second day started with the first downrange in the morning session, and it was all excitement as competitors pulled out all the stops to try to secure a place in the trophy pool. (PR)
