Chef has Best Bajan Sweetbread

PASTRY CHEF Marlene Yearwood-Small is Starcom Network’s first Best Bajan Sweetbread competition winner.
 Yearwood-Small emerged victorious today from a field of a total of 32 contestants – eight per week for four weeks.
 “I feel great, wonderful. I knew I was good, but not that good. I want to thank the staff of Brown Sugar restaurant,” she said.
 Yearwood-Small said her recipe was an amalgamation of various other sweetbread recipes which she incorporated “with a couple of changes” to make her own special bread.
 The finals of the competition took place in DaCosta Mannings, Warrens, St Michael and drew a moderate crowd of onlookers and supporters.
Yearwood-Small was awarded 271 points to grab top spot. The other finalists were Dilys Pinder with 268 points; Velma King with 267 points and Neilsia Payne with 246 points. (CA)
